Amontec JTAGkey Driver Installation on Windows 7

How to install the drivers for the Amontec JTAGkey on a Windows 7 computer. The JTAGkey is a USB JTAG tool from the Amontec company.
Download the JTAGkey Driver
To get the driver, go the Amontec page for the JTAGkey and then scroll down to, or use your browser to search for Amontec JTAG key Drivers for Windows and Linux.
Download the Amontec JTAGkey drivers for Windows, the file will be named something like amontec-jtagkey-driver-d2xx-20091124.zip
Extract the contents of the downloaded zipped file to a suitable folder on your computer.
Installing the JTAGkey Drivers in Windows 7
1. Plug the JTAGkey into a spare USB port
After plugging the Amontec JTAGkey into the Windows 7 computer, Windows will try to find a driver, but fail. Clicking the failure notice will bring up this dialog box:
2. Open Device Manger
Close the above dialog box and open the Windows Device Manager.
Click the Windows Start button, right-click Computer and the click Properties.
Now click Device Manager in the dialog box that pops up.
The Device Manager will show that the JTAGkey was found, but driver installation failed.
3. Install the Drivers
Right-click one of the Amontec JTAGkey entries in Device Manager and then click Update Driver Software... on the menu that pops up.
In the next dialog box, browse for driver software.
Click the Browse... button to select the folder from the downloaded Amontec JTAGkey drivers.
Navigate to and then select the driver folder. Click the OK button. Click the Next button and the drivers will start installing.
4. Install the Drivers for the Second Channel
After installation, a success message will be displayed. Now click on the second Amontec JTAGkey entry in Device manager and repeat the device installation for this entry as done above.
